This Thursday night at Gerrard Hall (site of the February Faceoff) from 8:00 to 11:00 the CUAB Music Committee is hosting The Love Language, who are in the midst of a nation wide tour that will continue into late April. Self described on their myspace as “NARUTO. Stuart McLamb, from Releigh, North Carolina,? a professionally unstable young man (? l tell him? expulsion from his former group, The Capulets, because intemperance on stage and not only), sentimentally worse (? to tell him of bottles of beer thrown against the wall during disputes with ? ex), who finds redemption in music. History already? heard. E gi? feel? pure music. Ma? pleasant. And so it is enough……” (www.myspace.com/thelovelanguage), The Love Language are not to be missed!
Playing with them is Chapel Hill band “The Huguenots”, who are the winners of last weeks UNC vs. Duke Battle of the Bands, as one of two UNC bands to make it through the elimination round (the other being Lafcadio). The Huguenots say they have “have blisters on their fingers” (as the great Beatle once said), but that certainly won’t deter them from an excellent performance of their classic rock-pop sound, keeping in mind that the most important thing is “Try(ing) to remember always to have a good time.” (www.myspace.com/thehuguenotsmusic)
Tickets for Thursdays show are $5, but free with your UNC student one card!
The votes have been tallied, and Vinyl Records is proud to welcome our newest recording artist:
With over 38 percent of the vote, Colby is the winner of Vinyl Record’s February Face-Off 2009. Many thanks to the 2092 UNC students that voted. More than that, thank you to Eric DiMarzio, It Is Rain In My Face, Jacquelyn Lee, and the Hugeunots for making the Face-Off itself such a great time. Future musical success for those acts would not be surprising at all.
Look back here soon for more on Colby, as well as the usual coverage of Apollo, Lafcadio, and Lake Inferior. While most news has been about the Face-Off lately, our other acts haven’t exactly been sitting back.
Again, congratulations Colby! We’re all excited to make you a part of Vinyl Records.
